i was given the opportunity to help develop designs and products that captured spartan spirit and engaged new students during our welcome week campaign.
the biggest take away was learning to use already established brand guidelines and creating visuals that appeal to the audience
card overlays
these graphics were made for michigan state and oakland students as a way to personalize their card to fit their style.
the inspiration from this idea came from my discover student credit card, which i only got because it was super cute.
overall, this piece of the campaign was successful in getting students to pick us as their bank away from home (and get a cool card out of it).
t-shirt designs
i encouraged my team that people love t-shirts, especially when they can wear them for game day. so after a couple years of a t-shirt absence, we brought them back and (i personally think) made them super cool and full of school spirit.
no matter how many times it happens, it will always be awesome to see my work out in the wild. so i of course ask for a picture every time i see someone wearing them in public, which also proves that they’re working!
phone wallets
providing trinkets is a staple for many events, but honestly, it’s really easy to get overlooked when compared to so many vendors.
i wanted to make sure our table and products were able to stand out! each of these designs are hand drawn and totally unique.
some extras
the design on the left is a poster of two main roads in east lansing that relate to the student population. we provided this for free at the annual michigan state poster sale.
the design on the right was made for tote bags we handed out at michigan state events. we really wanted copy that related to our campaign “we major in spartans” that tried to entice our student members. i was very proud of “honorary finance major” and it ended up being a huge hit.
